Floss Yarn
Viscose floss yarn — bright filaments produced from wood pulp cellulose
Wood pulp cellulose is generally used to obtain viscose silk and rayon, though cotton waste can also be used. When these materials are treated with cold sodium hydroxide, the cellulose is converted into alkali cellulose. It is then put through a series of additional processes and, while in liquid form, sprayed through fine-pored filters to form filaments. These filaments are very bright; titanium dioxide is added before extrusion to matte them. Viscose silk is known as floss.
