Fancy Yarn
Fancy Yarn
An indispensable accent yarn for the fashion world
Fancy yarns were first used as weft yarns in woolen weaving mills, intended for men's and women's outerwear.
Today, in line with fashion trends, designers — especially in outerwear — use fancy yarn as a fashion element in both woven and knitted fabrics.
They appear in the fabrics of jackets, trousers, skirts, blouses and dresses, as well as in knitted dresses, blouses, knit shawls and similar items for men's and women's outerwear. Their range of use continues to broaden every day.
Fancy yarns are also used in home textiles, where they are commonly woven into upholstery fabrics, curtains, tablecloths and rugs. The production methods in which fancy yarn is most frequently used are flat knitting (commonly known as tricot) and weaving.
Among the variants of fancy yarn, covered yarn (elastic) is used in various woven fabrics, and these yarns are also used to produce women's fancy lingerie and pantyhose.
Covered elastane yarns — Lycra in particular — are mainly used in weaving and circular knitting.
